  • Laptops
    • The carts will be checked in and out from the library.
    • The mobile computer carts may be checked out for no more than 3 consecutive days and no more than 6 days in a month.  This will allow all students a chance to use the lab.
    • Teachers will reserve the laptops by viewing the Technology Reservation Calendar to see which days are available. Then they will ask the library aide to schedule their class for the available day/days.

    iPads

    • All iPad carts will be checked in and out through the library.
    • For the Elementary campuses there will be a set schedule, so that every teacher has a chance to use them once a week.  It will be the same time every week which will allow for easier planning and routine.
    • The cart must be returned to the library each day by 3:00 pm.  This is so the library para has time to reconfigure the settings for the next day.

    iPad cart procedures

The iPad cart will contain 25 iPads, one apple tv, and one HDMI projector.  The cart will be checked out through the library in the morning and returned to the library by 3:00.  (This will give the Library para time to reconfigure the iPads for the next day.)  All iPads should be plugged in by the teacher before returning to the library.

Before a classroom teacher can check out the cart, the teacher must attend the iPad training workshop and bring his/her class to the library for the iPad orientation.  Kerri Holcomb and Lori Ramsey will be on each campus to help classes with the iPads orientation.  Once the teacher and the students have become familiar with the iPads, the teacher can check out the iPads to use in his/her classroom.

Because every child deserves exposure to the technology, the following schedule will be implemented.

Mondays:  Open checkout.   Priority will be given to specials teachers, UIL groups, and Pre-K.  The cart must be requested by Friday afternoon the week before to allow time to set up the iPads with appropriate apps.

Tuesdays:  Kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms will have use of the iPads.  One grade will have them in the morning, and one grade will have them in the afternoon.  The lead teachers for each grade level will be responsible for checking out and returning the iPads.  Lead teachers will divide up the time evenly and make a schedule for use of the iPads.

Wednesdays:  Second grade and Third grade classrooms will have use of the iPads.  One grade will have them in the morning, and one grade will have them in the afternoon.  The lead teachers for each grade level will be responsible for checking out and returning the iPads.  Lead teachers will divide up the time evenly and make a schedule for use of the iPads.

Thursday:  Fourth grade classrooms will have use of the iPads.  Lead teachers are responsible for checking out the iPads and returning iPads to the library.  Lead teachers will coordinate with other teachers and work out a schedule.

Fridays:  Fifth grade classrooms will have use of the iPads.  Lead teachers are responsible for checking out and returning iPad cart to library.  Lead teachers will coordinate with other teachers to make out a schedule.

The schedule is subject to change, and principals at each campus have the final say in whether a change is appropriate and necessary.
