• FAQs

    What time does school start?
Our school day starts at 7:57 AM. Children should arrive at school no earlier than 7:20 AM to ensure that there will be staff members at school to receive them. The only place where students are to be dropped off is at the front of the school.

    What time does school end?
Kline Whitis lets out at 3:15 PM. The students will be taken to their buses or to the front of the school to wait for their vehicle to pick them up. The only place where students may be picked up is at the front of the school. Utilizing the color-coded card with your child's name on it by placing it in a visible location in your vehicle will speed up the car line tremendously.

    What time is early dismissal?
School lets out at 12:20 PM on early dismissal days. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up.

What if I need to change how my child is getting home?
If you need to change how your child is getting home one day, your child must bring a signed note from a parent stating how they will get home. If the change is for more than one day, please include the dates it will be for and when it will return to usual.

If you forgot to send a note, you may email us with the information on how your child is getting home. It is very difficult to check our email after 2:00 due to our schedule. If you do not receive a confirmation email, assume we did NOT see it. You may call the school and let them know that you need to change how your student is getting home and they will make sure we get the information before the end of the day.

If you need your child to ride a school bus home, you must contact transportation to provide them with the new information.

Can my child wear _______ to school?
We follow the district wide dress code which applies to students from Pre-K all the way to High School. Even though some of the guidelines may not seem relevant to Kindergarteners, all LISD students must follow all of the dress code guidelines. Spaghetti straps on shirts or dresses, and skulls on clothing are not acceptable.

One dress code rule we DO feel is important in Kindergarten but sometimes gets forgotten is wearing shorts underneath dresses or skirts. Girls are not concerned with modesty when sitting on the carpet or playing on the playground. We want to preserve their modesty and save any embarrassment from your child.

Can I eat lunch with my child?
Parents are welcome to come eat lunch with their child anytime. You will need to sign in at the front office before meeting up with your child. Please find the designated table in the cafeteria for students to eat with their parents.

Unfortunately, students will not be allowed to eat lunch with adults who are not their immediate relatives.

Can I bring a special lunch for my child?
Yes. If you would like to drop off a lunch for your child, make sure to label the bag (and drink) with your child's name (first and last) and teacher name. Place the lunch on the table by the front door to the school. On our way to lunch, we will check to see if there are any lunches for our students waiting for them on the table.

What should I send for snack?
The Lampasas School District is committed to providing school environments that promote and protect children's health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating. Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value are limited to designated party days.

There are students in our school with severe allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. For that reason, we ask that you do not bring snacks that contain these allergens so we can maintain a campus that is safe for ALL students.

Good examples of healthy snacks to bring include: Goldfish, graham crackers, and animal crackers. Fruit is always a hit. Juice boxes are not required, but the kids love days when we have them.
If you want to buy snack in bulk, coffee filters make great "bowls" for passing out snack and would be greatly appreciated.

Cupcakes or cookies are allowed on your child's birthday for snack time. You may send a snack for the whole class if you would like, just be mindful of nut allergies.
